What is FIT?

The FIT programme aims to enable German universities to support international students throughout their entire qualification path with tailored offers to guide them to academic success and subsequently into employment in Germany.

With funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the DAAD supports German universities in the Campus Initiative International Professionals with the ‘FIT’ programme to prepare international prospective students for the requirements of studying in Germany. FIT facilitates integration into the degree programme and, subsequently, the transition into the German labour market. To this end, ‘FIT’ supports the development of measures for study preparation, study support and ensuring academic success, as well as the expansion of career services for international students at German universities.

The 89 projects at German universities started receiving funding on 1 April 2024 and will continue until the end of 2028.

Current FIT offers

Bridging Courses 2025

Eight bridging courses are planned per academic year to compensate for missing competences to the level of a German psychology bachelor's degree – based on the admission requirements of the IPU's master's programmes. In addition to the three existing courses (psychoanalysis, clinical psychology and research methods), an additional course in social psychology has been developed within the FIT project. Also as a result of the FIT programme, the bridging courses are now also being offered during the summer semester in order to reach even more students.

Deutsch als Fremdsprache (DaF)

The aim of the programme is to enable those who are planning to study psychology in Germany or are already studying in Germany to gain access to the language requirements for studying clinical psychology and psychotherapy in German, while integrating some technical language elements at an early stage.

Career Service for international Students at IPU

Our Career Service supports Master Psychology graduates in finding jobs in Germany. In particular, we want to advise you on how to enter the German job market as a clinical psychologist without an approbation license.
