Teaching Focus

I teach at IPU in the part-time master’s program in psychology. One of my particular interests is teaching about mental disorders with a psychoanalytical and psychobiological focus. Because I am still active in my own clinical psychoanalytic practice, I am also passionate about teaching the paradigms of psychotherapeutic intervention. A favorite topic of mine is neuropsychoanalysis, which is why I greatly enjoy teaching the “Clinical Neuroscience and Neuropsychoanalysis” elective as well.

Research focus:

  • interdisciplinary research in dialogue with the neurosciences
  • empirical-neuropsychoanalytic dream research
  • empirical-psychoanalytic research of early prevention
  • psychotherapy process research

Current research projects:

  • Investigation of declarative and non-declarative (emotional) memory functions as well as sleep quality in relation to the ability to dream in the research project "Biological Function of Dreams" - BFD
  • Modification of Psychological and Neural Structures in Long-Term Psychoanalytic Therapies for Depression (MODE). Multi-Level Outcome Study of Psychoanalyses of Chronically Depressed Patients with Early Trauma.
  • An early prevention project for young children with a migration background „Gemeinsam stark!"
  • Behavioral investigation of emotional and motivational appraisal processes in multiple-complex traumatized children - Mutige Kinder (MUKI)
  • Evaluation of socio-pedagogical group offers for children and adolescents in outpatient youth welfare" (Socio-pedagogical group offers & evaluation - "SOGREV")
