About this Blog

When a virus is spreading, virologists are the primary experts approached by the media. But the ramifications of the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 are felt not only as symptoms of the illness, but also through the limitations felt by all people involved in containment measures. What does the psychoanalytic perspective have to say about the COVID-19 pandemic?

Psychoanalysis in a Pandemic: Posts from IPU in the times of Corona

Much remains to be said in the current debate. For example, what the current crisis may elicit in the subjective lives of people, in what ways fear can take shape, and which mental consequences are possible as a result of limiting interpersonal contact. As a psychoanalytic university, we feel the need to fill these gaps and to enrich public debates through those perspectives that we, as members of IPU, are able to take.

For IPU, the current situation means changes and restrictions. Our Summer Semester will begin late on April 20, 2020. Additionally, no public events will take place until after July 20th of this year, and our library is currently only available for online use. Under these circumstances, we would like to offer alternatives and invite you to follow our posts, thoughts, and psychoanalytical reflections.

We are also excited to be able to illustrate this blog. The images have been created by IPU student Alina Titova.
