I am a sociologist interested in theory, culture, media, organizations, the economy, and processes of valuation.
I studied social sciences at the University of Würzburg, Humboldt University (Berlin), and The New School for Social Research (New York). I received my Dr. phil. in sociology from Humboldt University for a theoretical and empirical study of processes of economization in educational organizations. I was a postdoctoral researcher and interim professor of sociological theory at the University of Bremen, associate junior fellow at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (Institute for Advanced Study), Delmenhorst, co-coordinator of the DFG network “On the road to a valuation society?”, and recently interim professor of sociological theory at the University of Bamberg. Since October 2025, I have been Professor of Organization Studies at the International Psychoanalytic University in Berlin.
I am interested in sociological theory, qualitative methods, the sociologies of organizations, culture, media, and the economy, and in the broad and interdisciplinary field of valuation studies. My current projects deal with theories of valuation, digital intimate valuation, and the process of saint-seeking within the Roman Catholic Church. In addition, I am involved in a working group on “Organization and Valuation.
