DAAD Prize 2023 for IPU student Maya Shamsi Basha

Maya Shamsi Basha was awarded the DAAD Prize 2023 for her excellent academic performance and intercultural commitment

Maya is currently in her third Master's semester (MA Psychology, English track) at the IPU Berlin. In addition to her excellent academic performance, she has conducted trainings on social innovation, entrepreneurship, design thinking, sustainability and leadership as part of the Youth Leadership Programme (UNDP). She volunteered as a lifeline operator with the national suicide prevention hotline (EMBRACE) in Lebanon and is a co-founder of the cat shelter Souly's Rescues. Maya additionally participated as a delegate in an exchange programme through the U.S. Institute for Student Leaders in Philadelphia, USA. There she helped to develop weekly training sessions for young people in the areas of leadership, mental health, teamwork and civic engagement.
