Call For Student Project Tutorials

Following the successful introduction of the project tutorials, we are now starting the second phase of our pilot project in the winter semester 2022/2023. At the moment, we are already running a project tutorial and we are now looking for interested parties who have the courage to implement their own course on an exciting topic. Two tutorials may be awarded.

Project tutorials are seminars conducted by students in the format of "research based learning": the tutors and the participating students work independently on a research question or topic. What is special, is that the idea for the topic is developed and implemented by the students themselves in the role of tutors. The tutorials are open and free of charge for all students. Thematically, they should enrich the curriculum with new perspectives.

Everyone interested in hosting a project tutorial in the winter semester 2022/2023 can contact the working group Project Tutorials via mail. We will send you the application documents.

Applications are open until 1 September 2022.

Who are we looking for?

  • We are looking for student tutors who would like to pursue their own research question together with other students. Students of all subjects can apply as tutors, who 1) are properly enrolled at the IPU and 2) have at least 90 ECTS credits in their current studies or a previous university degree of at least Bachelor level.
  • As a tutor, you are responsible for formulating an overall question for this student project, structuring the course and moderating the work process. Your role as a tutor is not so much to teach the content of the course, but to accompany the students in the joint research process.
  • The applications received will be checked for formal correctness by the Working Group Project Tutorials and then submitted to the Study Commission for approval. If more applications are received than number of positions advertised, the student commission council will make a decision and vote on the content. Relevant here are above all the conclusiveness and relevance of the overall topic, the involvement of the students and the motivation of the applicants.

What are you offered as a tutor?

  • The project tutorial enables you to gain first experience in teaching and research. This way, you can gain valuable experience for your further career.
  • The working group Project Tutorials supports you in all questions and around the preparation and implementation of your tutorial.
  • Your tutor will help you with the content and will be present at two sessions to give you feedback on the didactic design and the possibility to reflect on your role as a tutor. You will receive written feedback at the end of the tutorial.
  • In addition, the tutorial will be remunerated on the basis of two SWS with a total of 1.500 Euro.
