Project Description

The study examines the CAI (Child Attachment Inventory) for its validity and reliability in a high-risk population, as well as its comparability with the MCAST (Manchester Child Attachment Story Task). Furthermore, the CAI will be examined with regard to its cultural, linguistic, and conceptual factors. A total of 100 children aged 8 to 10 who were tested with the MCAST at the age of 4 will be retested with the CAI and its validity will be verified. Hypotheses include more pronounced social competence in securely attached children compared to insecurely attached children, which will be investigated in a comparison between the CAI and the SDQ (Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaires). Although the results did not confirm this, insecurely attached children showed more conspicuous results than those who were securely attached. It was noticeable that children with insecure attachment behavior were significantly younger than securely attached children and achieved higher scores on the problem scales. In a comparison between boys and girls, boys showed higher scores on problem scales and lower scores on scales of prosocial behavior.
