Adolescents with personality disorders (PD) who are placed in inpatient youth welfare facilities represent a high-risk group for severe and chronic psychosocial impairments, with high consequential costs for society due to repeated or long-term use of health and social services. They have complex, interdisciplinary support needs, and so far there are no effective concepts for cross-SGB care in the outpatient sector. The JuPiTher project aims to implement and evaluate such an early, disorder-specific and cross-SGB treatment concept for this group of adolescents at risk of psychosocial failure. The aim is to improve the quality and efficiency of outpatient care for these young people, to avoid high inpatient treatment costs, and to enable greater continuity of relationships for the adolescents. The need for this was confirmed by questionnaire surveys and focus groups with adolescents in the facilities.
A full proposal for the evaluation of the new care model was submitted to the GBA Innovation Fund in May 2024. A decision is expected by the end of 2024.
