Side effects of psychotherapy

External Principal Investigator

Project Description

While the effectiveness of psychotherapies has long been well documented, research on the side effects of psychotherapeutic interventions is still in its infancy. Hence, this project is the first to comparatively investigate the side effects of outpatient cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychology-based therapy, and psychoanalytic therapy. The central research tool is the Interview to Assess Adverse Events and Negative Therapy Consequences of Psychotherapy (Linden, 2022), which was used to assess side effects from the perspective of patients and therapists under source variation.
