Prof. Frances Thomson-Salo

Associate/Professor Frances Thomson-Salo trained as a child and adult psychoanalyst with the British Psychoanalytic Society and is a Training Analyst and past President of the Australian Psychoanalytical Association. She is overall Chair of the International Psychoanalytical Association Committee of Women in Psychoanalysis and a member of the Board of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis. She is the Consultant Infant Mental Health clinician, Royal Women's Hospital Centre and a senior child psychotherapist of The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, and an Honorary Fellow of the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. She is an Honorary Principal Fellow of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne, on the teaching faculty for the University of Melbourne Graduate Diploma/Masters in Health Sciences and has taught over 45 infant observation seminar courses. She has published in the fields of child psychoanalysis and infant mental health, including Infant Observation (2014, Karnac),  and been translated into French, Portuguese, Turkish, Vietnamese and Chinese. She is a member of the international advisory board of The International Psychoanalytic  University, Berlin and the International Editorial Advisory Board  of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy journal.
