Prof. Muran will be teaching in the winter semester 2022/23 and is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service’s (DAAD) Horst Kächele-Guest Professorship.
Prof. Christopher Muran is Associate Dean and Full Professor at the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University in New York. He is also Principal Investigator of the Mount Sinai Beth Israel Psychotherapy Research Program and a faculty member at Icahn School of Medicine at the Mount Sinai and New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. In his work, Prof. Muran has focused on the change process in psychotherapy, particularly on alliance rupture repair.
At IPU, Prof. Muran will be teaching three courses on applied research, practical theory and clinical training. Together with a companion, he will also be working on a new book project regarding their approach to alliance-focused training. The book is due for publication by the American Psychological Association in 2024.
On 11 February 2023, Prof. Muran, together with Prof. Louis G. Castonguay, will be holding a lecture on alliance rupture repair as a critical change process as part of the International Horst Kächele Memorial Webinar Series. Registration will open closer to the date.
