KIPU e. V. is a non-profit association. It focuses on early childhood and promotes training, further training and advanced studies in the field of child, youth and family welfare especially, in addition to supporting research and development primarily in the psychology, pedagogy and health-care professions. It strives to test and evaluate new ways of sharing and exchanging on scientific and practice-driven levels.

As an association, KIPU e. V. works together with the International Psychoanalytic University Berlin (IPU Berlin) to promote and advance wide-ranging linkages between teaching, practice and research. The intention is for our students to have the opportunity to test their abilities if a field of practice and, doing so, to be supervised and supported voluntary by full-time lecturing staff at the IPU.
One project currently being conducted with students is the so-called sponsorships (in kindergartens and refugee homes). Here, students voluntarily support and accompany families with a range of psychosocial advice and assistance. Doing so, they are supported by the lecturing staff and monitored by supervisors providing their services voluntarily.
