University Integration of People with Refugee Backgrounds
What we are doing
We provide support to people with refugee backgrounds in finding a way to attend a third-level education institution or university in Berlin. This can for instance be in the form of regular studies, as a guest student, in a summer school, a welcome programme, a buddy programme, etc. We help in locating a suitable third-level education institution or university and provide support during the complete application process.
Since November 2015, the International Psychoanalytic University Berlin (IPU) has in the context of WE INTEGRATE REFUGEES (WIR) been committed to supporting people with refugee backgrounds. The StuFen Project was initiated by IPU Berlin students and has been supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) since January 2016.
Katayun Ensani, Rilana Kühn and Paul Sobanski are applying their efforts to the university integration of people with refugee backgrounds. The aim is to permit people who have been forced to flee their home country an opportunity to gain further training and advanced education in Germany. We regard access to (advanced) education and training as one of the central ways to integrate into the society.
