Job Posting: Professorship in Psychological Diagnostics (Full-time)

Depending on applicant qualifications and experience, the position will be offered as either a junior professorship (W1) on a tenure track or as a full professorship (W3).

The International Psychoanalytic University (IPU) is a state recognized, private university in Berlin. It offers a wide spectrum of study programs, among others, a versatile bachelor’s program (compliant with the psychotherapist law) and master’s programs (in German/in English full-time, part-time) in psychology with focuses on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (compliant with the psychotherapist law) as well as Organizational Psychology, Leadership and Consulting, Interdisciplinary Psychosis Therapy, and Cultural Studies. As a well-connected, international university, IPU stands out due to its psychoanalytically influenced, interdisciplinary research profile. The IPU also has an affiliated outpatient psychotherapy clinic, which also participates in research and teaching.

Tasks: This position represents the field of psychological diagnostics throughout the full scope of IPU research and teaching (especially BSc/MA Psychology, MA Psychology – Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy).

Expectations include a quantitative or qualitative research focus in current developments of psychological diagnostics (i.e. diagnostic systems and methods, test construction, evaluation), which has been documented through relevant publications, as well as the readiness to cooperate internationally, teach in English-language programs, and participate in the academic self-government system.

Required Competencies for this position are professional experience in the fields of clinical psychology diagnostics and clinical psychology, previous experience in clinical work or assessment, as well as university teaching. Candidates should also be compatible with the direction of IPU’s research and be able to successfully raise third-party funds for research projects.

Qualifications for the professorship are completed university studies in psychology, pedagogical aptitude as well as particular proficiency in scientific work, which can be supported through a high quality doctoral dissertation and post-doctoral work or other equivalent scholarly/scientific achievements.

Salary is structured according to the W1 or W3 salary of the state of Berlin. In the case the position is offered as a junior professorship, it will be limited to three years, and after an intermediate evaluation, may be extended an additional three years. Following this, in this case, after an additional evaluation, it is possible for the position to be converted into a full professorship (tenure track).

English-speaking applicants are also welcome. In this case, it is expected that sufficient language skills will be acquired within two years for the purpose of teaching German-language classes.
