Parallel to lecturing, research and other activities at the university, the IPU organises events related to current issues and topics. Information about these events is released here, as well as on our electronic newsletter, to which you can subscribe free-of-charge.
In the 2013 summer semester, the first round of the public lecture series which began in the 2009-10 winter semester under the title "Pathologies of the Modern Age" is due to end. The talks during this semester under the motto "Modernities – Conflicting Modern Ages" (Modernities – Konfligierende Modernen) are concerned in very different ways with the issue of the duplication of cultural perspectives and the (not only discursive) clash of various modern ages. The public lecture series at the International Psychoanalytic University (IPU) Berlin is intended to be a reflection on culture from a psychoanalytical perspective with the aim of designating the IPU as a centre of discourse between psychoanalysis and the cultural, humanities and social sciences.
May we warmly invite you to join us in our exploratory efforts in this field and discuss the topics and issues that arise together with us.
We are looking forward to meeting you.

The public lecture series "Pathologies of the Modern Age" is commencing its third round in the 2012-13 winter semester. The lectures are focusing this semester on "Abjections of the Modern Age", in other words on those exclusions and disavowals that the Modern Age produces and for which it is ultimately grateful. The public lecture series at the IPU is intended to be a reflection on culture from a psychoanalytical perspective with the aim of designating the IPU as a centre of discourse between psychoanalysis and the cultural, humanities and social sciences.
May we warmly invite you to join us in our exploratory efforts here and discuss the topics and issues that arise together with us.
We are looking forward to meeting you.

Trauma pedagogy has become a subject of increasing importance. As children and adolescents with early traumatic stress tend to repeat these experiences in their current relationships, youth welfare facilities, foster families and indeed adoptive families, as well as individual case assistants, family supporters and others are often confronted by adverse progress despite all their efforts. Addiction, criminality, chronic psychiatric treatment and social marginality are all counted among the potential consequences of this. An educational science which reflects this complexity of problems and offers new routes rather than retraumatisation is urgently required here. The conference is intended to reveal insights into the range of issues involved, highlight already developed trauma pedagogy concepts and provide perspectives for further qualifications in this sector.
The conference is being held between 09.30 and 17.30 in the Lecture Building (new building) at the International Psychoanalytic University Berlin (IPU), Stromstraße 2, 10555 Berlin. You can find us here.
Due to the limited number of places available for the conference, prior registration is required.
Registration for the conference should thus occur by 22 November at the latest by email to info@ipu-berlin.de.
The participation fee amounts to €50. A reduced participation fee of €30 is available for time-to-think trainers and students. Please transfer the amount at the same time you submit your registration by 22 November to the following bank account:
