The International Psychoanalytic University library primarily serves as a source of information for lecturing, study and research at the IPU. It is our aim to build up a specialised interdisciplinary library with international literature on the subjects of:

• Psychology, and especially clinical psychology
• Psychoanalysis (clinical and non-clinical fields of application)
• Psychological prevention and intervention
• Psychotherapeutic research
• Educational studies focusing on psychosocial intervention:
  Delinquency prevention, early intervention/early learning and psychodynamic counselling
• Neurosciences

Furthermore we have literature on neighbouring fields, such as sociology, cultural studies and theories, as well as philosophy and medicine.

 

The library is a reference and open access library; however its stock collection may not be borrowed. The library can be used by all members of staff and students at the IPU. External parties may use the library after consulting and receiving permission from the library management.

• Since June the IPU library has stocked the two journals Forum der Psychoanalyse/Psychoanalysis Forum and Psychotherapeut/Psychotherapist both electronically and as print copies. >>

• The PEP-WEB literature database has a search option for browsing 42 key psychoanalysis journals and 23 classic psychoanalysis works, as well as providing access to all full texts, making it an essential source for studying, lecturing and research. >>

• The 1920 to 2007 editions of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis are available via the PEP-WEB, as well as from 01/2010 in the form of directly licensed e-journals for our library users. >>

• A wide range of relevant specialist databases and e-journals can be accessed in the context of the German Research Foundation (DFG) national licenses and the Online Contents Special Subject Collections (OLC-SSG). >>

• Furthermore, the journal Psyche is available from 1968 onwards and the print edition of the International Journals of Psychoanalysis from 1967 onwards, as well as the Jahrbuch der Psychoanalyse/Yearbook of Psychoanalysis from vol. 1. In addition, the International Review of Psycho-Analysis from 1974 to 1992 is available in the library's stock collection.
